Apple Cash Balance and transaction on display

Is there anyway to hide your transactions without deleting the cash app, then re-installing again?

Also, I don’t like that my Apple Cash balance is visible to anyone who can see my screen when I’m paying with Apple Cash.

Can the Apple Cash balance be hidden as well? If not, how do we give Apple feedback for software updates to better enhance the user experience?

Thanks

You did get the answer; there is no way to hide the Apple Cash balance or transaction history.

Please use the feedback link to suggest it. As iOS 17 is only starting internal beta it’s the right time.

Thanks H1290,

It appears that link is for hidden purchases made in the App Store. That is still good information to have, however, when I use Apple Cash, it list every transaction. I can either choose to display all my store purchase, or all the money transactions that I send/receive.

I read somewhere on-line, that you can’t hide the transactions, and if you want to clear them you need to delete, and then reinstall Apple Cash/wallet.

I was just checking to see if someone else on this forum knew of other options.

i will use the Apple feedback link you provided.

Thanks again.

The reason I gave. If you use a debit or credit card you are protected in the event of fraud. With Apple Cash you are not. Now I realize that fraud is unlikely with Starbucks, but for Starbucks I use a Starbucks card, and get credit in their loyalty program.

And with a little practice you can pay without anyone seeing your phone’s screen. I actually don’t use the phone at all when paying, I use my  Watch for contactless payments, and it doesn’t display anything.

Hi Lawrence,

I don’t know if you are aware, but your Apple Cash can be used at stores/businesses that accept Apple Pay.

You get to choose which form of payment you want to use, and I sometimes use my Apple Cash in my wallet, instead of another card.

A few times when I’ve been in Starbucks, and my Apple Cash Card pops up (set as my default payment) I wave my phone over the contactless reader to pay, but you can see my balance on the front of my Apple Cash Card.

Lawrence,

I 100% agree that you should ONLY send Apple Cash to those who you know, but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t use it at a restaurant/store. What’s the difference between using one of your other cards that is in your Apple Wallet? Unless, you think it’s unsafe in general to pay for items using Apple Pay.

The only difference is if I select another card to pay with, you don’t see my balance on the front of the card. I just wanted to know how to not have it displayed.

I would much rather pay for something at a restaurant using Apple Cash/another card than to physically hand someone my card.

I am honestly curious as to why you said not to do it. Do you think using Apple Pay/Cash is not safe?

Ok

When I read your initial post, I thought you were talking about no protection against fraud as it related to ONLY sending/receiving money to others, not for transactions, but that makes sense. Thanks for giving a more detailed response.

Using my phone is just habit, but I have been prompted to pay using my watch a few times.

Maybe I need to use my watch more as well lol.

Thanks again

Wait,

I enjoyed our conversation, but so caught up, and still never got my questioned answered lol.

I still want to know how to hide my Apple Cash balance, as well as my transaction history.

It appears that Apple needs a software update to give the user the option to be able to do so.

I will make a suggestion to Apple to add this feature using their feedback link.

Thanks again for the additional information that you shared. 😃

Oh, I must have missed where you stated that there was no way to hide the balance/transaction history. I asked the question, but your response was to educate me on the following:

  1. No one should see my screen
  2. Never send Apple Cash to Someone I Don’t know
  3. Apple Cash has no protection for fraud
  4. You use your Apple Watch because it’s more convenient
  5. Oh, and you have a Starbucks Card to take advantage of their loyalty program

However, I did state to another poster on this thread that I read on-line from somewhere else that there was no way to hide the transactions/balance. I just came here to seek confirmation.

But again thanks for the conversation, and yes, as I stated in my last post, I would use the Apple feedback link to suggest it, and I did so right after I finished that post.

Who knows, maybe it will get their attention, or not.

One thing that matters is how many people have requested the same or a similar feature through the feedback site.

I’ll submit a similar request, to get it started.

Here is what I submitted:

Apple Cash, Apple Card and some 3rd party cards display a transaction history when you tap on them, which might be visible to a merchant when using the phone to pay. It would be a useful security feature to be able to suppress the display of recent transactions.
