No creatinstallmedia in resources

I am trying to reinstall High sierra on my older mac but creating the USB installer on a newer mac.

I am not able to download the high sierra installer from the app store because it is not compatible with this mac and downloading the installer from the download center will not install it to applications so therefor I am not able to do the apple create usb article

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume

I have the dmg in downloads and it not installed as an .app so I cannot use the "show contents" to extract the createinstallmedia file.

opening up the dmg and pkg, the createinstallmedia is not in resources folder..

I do not understand how hard it is to create a simple install usb installer for older macs, its infuriating...

Apple has never released macOS 10.13 High Sierra in .dmg format. The only Apple official macOS 10.13 related .dmg downloads are for patches to an existing installation of High Sierra.

In order to create a bootable macOS 10.13 High Sierra USB installer you will need access to another compatible Qualifying Mac. A Qualifying Mac for 10.13 is generally one from Late-2009 to 2018. You can confirm compatibility by using this article as a reference:

If you have access to such a Mac, then you can use the instructions in this Apple article:

Create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support

Unfortunately this is the only reliable method of creating a bootable macOS USB installer. It is a shame Apple makes this process so difficult since not everyone has access to another compatible Mac.
