iphone player keeps turning down volume and pausing by itself

ive noticed it while im watching anything on my phone, be it youtube or disney+, and the volume randomly goes up or down as if someones hacking my phone or it just flat out pauses. this is normally an error i encounter when i have bluetooth headphones on, but this has only happened and stood out to me when im not using any headphones/theyre switched off. any ideas?

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with your iPhone's audio controls while streaming videos. This seems like a frustrating problem, but I'm confident we can find a solution.

Following are a few steps to try:

1. **Restart Your Device**: As has already been suggested, a simple restart can sometimes fix a multitude of issues. Here's how you can do it - press and hold either volume button along with the side button until you see the power-off slider. Drag the slider to turn off, and then hold the side button to turn it back on after 30 seconds.

2. **Check for Software Updates**: An outdated version of iOS might cause unexpected issues. To check if you're on the latest version, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

3. **Isolate the Issue**: Identifying when the issue occurs can help narrow down its source. Does it only happen when using certain apps like YouTube or Disney+? Does the issue persist if you switch from WiFi to cellular data, or vice versa? If the video is downloaded onto your iPhone, do you still experience these issues?

4. **Check Audio Output**: Even though your headphones are off, your iPhone might still be trying to connect to them. Go to Control Center (swipe down from the upper-right corner on iPhone X or newer, or swipe up on iPhone 8 or older), and check where the audio is being directed. You should see a small icon at the top right of the music control box that indicates where the sound is being output. Ensure it's set to your iPhone.

5. **Reset All Settings**: If the issue persists, consider resetting your iPhone's settings. It won't erase your data, but it will reset all settings to their defaults. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

If you continue to have trouble after trying these steps, it might be time to reach out to Apple Support directly for more help.

Remember to back up your device regularly, especially before performing operations like Reset All Settings. I hope these suggestions are helpful!

Best regards,

Hello 3gatos,

The first thing we would suggest would be to power cycle the iPhone by following these steps found at Restart your iPhone - Apple Support :

1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.

2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

While simple, this can refresh the iOS, apps and connections.

If the issue continues, we would try to isolate what is causing the problem.

Does it only happen with particular apps?

Does it happen on Wi-FI and cellular?

If the video is downloaded to the iPhone, does it still happen?

This information will can help determine the how to find a solution.

Have a good day.
