Password

Hi all

I’ve been using a password for over a year to login to My MacBook Pro. However, it stopped working last night! And I’m crippled. Having gone through all the procedural suggestions out there, I can’t get it retrieved either. The only unconventional this I did yesterday was that I ONLY tried the Migration Assistant, and before it started to run I did QUIT.

Another this I did was that I cleaned the keyboard with hoover and wipe very gently!

Please help.

Hi there in-house,

If you are unable to log into your user account on your Mac, these steps from Reset your Mac login password show how to reset the password in macOS Monterey:

Reset your login password using your Apple ID
If you associated your user account with your Apple ID, you can use your Apple ID to reset your login password.
1. Click the question mark  next to the password field.
2. If you don’t see a question mark , press and hold the power button until your Mac shuts down, then press the power button to restart your Mac.
3. Click the arrow  next to “reset it using your Apple ID.”
4. If you don’t see an arrow , see the Apple Support article If you can’t reset your Mac login password.
5. Enter an Apple ID and password, then click Next.
6. Follow the instructions to reset your login password.
If you don’t remember your Apple ID password, see If you forget your Apple ID or password.

Reset your login password using a recovery key
If you turned on FileVault encryption and created a recovery key, you can use the recovery key to reset your login password.
1. Click the question mark  next to the password field.
2. If you don’t see a question mark , press and hold the power button until your Mac shuts down, then press the power button to restart your Mac.
3. Click the arrow  next to “reset it using your recovery key.”
4. If you don’t see an arrow , see the Apple Support article If you can’t reset your Mac login password.
5. Enter the recovery key, then click Next.
6. Follow the instructions to reset your login password.

If you need further assistance after looking over that, then reach out to Apple Support next. They would be the best equipped to look into this further with you and look into your available options. Contact them here: Get Support

Take care!
