Is there a version history for files which are saved on iCloud Drive? Like you have in Dropbox for example.
By the way: I want to use a version history for my files on the iPad (could also be in the browser). Any ideas? I do not see any „Versions“ option in my Apple Apps (Numbers, Pages…) like many apple manuals are describing int.

It looks like there would not be a similar option available for iCloud Drive. If you need to recover deleted iCloud files check out this article for steps on that: Recover deleted files on iCloud.com - Apple Support
As you mentioned, some Apple apps do allow you to recover previous versions. Check out this link for more information on that: Restore an earlier version of a document in Pages for iCloud - Apple Support
