Thank you for this info. Just to check if my understanding is correct, even if I installed messenger in my iPhone, I can no longer sync the app to my apple watch. Is.this correct? Thanks!

FB stopped making an Apple Watch version of the Messenger app. It does not matter if you have the version on your iPhone.

You can get notifications on your Watch from the Messenger app.

Hmmm - you'll need the app installed/configured on your phone. Then you can enable the app to get installed on your Watch. I have the latest (412.0) which syncs between my phone and watch just fine. I hadn't realized the product might be short-lived, I've transitioned most of my Messenger-like tasks to WhatsApp which works great on phone/watch...

I know I was excited to get the new Apple Watch Ultra2 and here they don’t have Facebook or Messenger or Twitter (X) or Instagram, such an expensive watch, that don’t support those apps! I hope they fix it we live in a world of awesome technology!

Those apps do not support the Apple Watch. Those companies own and control the APIs, security keys, etc… for those apps. They need to provide the apps.

Meta used to have a Messenger app, but they withdrew it.

There are some 3rd party apps for WhatsApp that you can explore in the App Store.

If you want those apps on the Apple Watch, you need to lobby the service owners.

You're misdirecting your angst. This was Facebooks decision, not Apple's. Complain to Facebook. You'll still, by the way, be able to get Notifications on your watch. You just won't be able to open messages or reply on your watch. And let's be honest. Typing on the tiny keyboard on Apple Watch, when you likely have your iPhone nearby just shouldn't be a significant issue.

But sure, if you bought an Apple Watch Ultra ONLY for Facebook Messenger, when Apple Watch Ultra does so much more, then yes, perhaps it wasn't the best option for you.

You do, by the way, have 14 days from date of purchase to return the watch. Before you do, you better check with Facebook to see if they provide support for Messenger on any other brand watch. I'd be surprised if they do.
