Apple pencil problem!

I’ve been using my apple pencil for almost 3 years and it started to work not properly. I thought it was because of the screen protector I had on my ipad. Thus, I took it off and the pencil started to function again properly. The pencil works normal on the bare screen but not with the screen protector. Additionally, it used to function properly with the screen protector. According to my speculations, it’s because of the old tip. Should I change the tip with a new one?

Your iPad Pencil tip should be changed as soon as visible wear, however slight, becomes evident. Ensure that the Pencil tip is screwed firmly into place; if only slightly loosened, the Pencil may not work properly - if at all. When correctly tightened, there should be tiny gap (of about the thickness of a sheet of paper) between the Pencil tip and the main body of the Pencil.

While some screen protectors are known to interfere with reliable operation of an Apple Pencil, if the Pencil was previously working without issues, presence of the screen protector should not alter performance over time - unless the Pencil itself has an issue.

If changing the Pencil tip does not resolve the problem, it is perhaps possible that the Pencil’s tiny rechargeable battery is reaching the end of its useful life. Do you need to recharge the Pencil more frequently - and/or does the indicted battery status fall rapidly while being used?

You might be well advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad and Pencil:

It may be the tip yes. You can change it for a new one, one extra should have been included in the box if it's a First Generation Apple Pencil.

If it's a second generation Apple Pencil, you will need to buy a replacement pack. click here ➜ Apple Pencil Tips - 4 pack - Apple

You just need to unscrew it and screw in a new one. If it still does not work, it means the screen protector may be blocking something in certain orientations.

I would not use a screen protector with an iPad if you want to use an Apple Pencil with it.

I don’t actually have any problems about the Apple Pencil’s battery, it seems to be normal. I also got a new screen protector, which is thinner than the previous one but it still has affected the performance of the Apple Pencil. I have to press hard when using the pencil in a horizontal position but while using it vertically, there’s no problem. I’m a student and take lots of notes with the iPad and the pencil, Im also fond of sketching somethings, which shows that I use the pencil very often. I took the new brand screen protector off and it started to work properly again. The only thing I think is changing the Apple Pencil tip.
