- Restart your iPad. This can sometimes fix minor software glitches that can cause problems with the keyboard. To restart your iPad, press and hold the power button until the power slider appears. Then, drag the power slider to the right to turn off your iPad. Wait a few seconds, then press and hold the power button again until the Apple logo appears.
- Check your Bluetooth settings. Make sure that Bluetooth is turned on and that your iPad is paired with any Bluetooth devices that you are using. To check your Bluetooth settings, go to Settings > Bluetooth. If Bluetooth is turned off, turn it on. If your iPad is not paired with your Bluetooth keyboard, tap on the name of your keyboard and then tap on Connect.
- Force quit the Mail app. Sometimes, a problem with the Mail app can prevent the keyboard from popping up. To force quit the Mail app, press and hold the home button and the power button at the same time until the app jiggles. Then, tap on the red "X" button in the top-left corner of the app to close it.
- Update your iPad's software. Apple regularly releases software updates for its devices that can fix bugs and improve performance. To check for software updates, go to Settings > General > Software Update. If an update is available, tap on Download and Install.
- Reset your iPad. If you have tried all of the above steps and the keyboard is still not popping up, you can try resetting your iPad. This will erase all of your data, so make sure to back up your iPad before you reset it. To reset your iPad, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
