iPhone call volume low

The low call volume problem on my iPhone SE 2 was only solved by the toothbrush. So the first thing you should do (before any setting changes) if you have the same problem is to take a toothbrush and clean the small ear speaker well. No matter how clean it looks - clean it.

This worked for me as well. I wish I'd seen your post when I was trying to resolve my low volume issue, but I came here to tell people the same thing. I had read a different post about using a fine brush, dry, to clean the speaker where you would listen to a phone call. I had tried several times in the past and volume was still terrible. I made one final attempt but this time used my electric toothbrush. I gave it a full cycle from all angles. Whether it cleaned something I couldn't see, or vibrated a problem away, I don't know. But now my call volume is totally normal! It went from sounding so muffled and quiet I could barely here, and I was turning into one of those annoying people having to put it on speaker to even hear the caller. Now it is like new. So anyone with that problem try a toothbrush, it can solve the audio issue. My problem with low call volume on my iPhone X is solved.

My phone is an iPhone 13 Pro Max and this is exactly what happened to me. I thank you both so much for posting this. I spent months thinking it was a software bug. Switching and restarting configurations every now and then to see if the problem would solve itself. Then I started to panic when I began to think it was a hardware issue. I tried to clean it with a regular toothbrush (clearly not efficiently enough) and tried every single suggestion I could find. I almost gave up assuming it would need a replacement speaker (which Apple doesn’t do and third parties make it with the possible loss of Face ID and water resistance)

All it took was 30 seconds with an electric toothbrush. I almost feel ridiculous for all the worries and what ifs I had put myself through.
