Ventura 13.4 iMac USB Sennheiser headset AND Logitech pro camera constantly disconnect and then reconnect

Hi, I have a 2020 iMac. Recently, (I think post Ventura updates) my Logitech pro camera AND Sennheiser headset, both connected directly into the Mac's USB 2 ports constantly disconnect and reconnect. I have set Privacy and Security settings for both to be allowed for the application (Adobe Connect). I have disallowed permission to be used by other potentially conflicting apps (eg Zoom, MS Teams). Both devices worked perfectly today when connected to an older PC via its USB ports. I have tried rebooting and reconnecting many times but the problem reoccurs. Is this a buggy Ventura problem or something to do with the physical USB ports? Or something completely different? Thanks for any relevenat advice!

Hello guido_97,

The key to an issue like this is to try to isolate what is causing the problem.

Does it happen in more than one app? If not, then we would focus on the app itself.

If it occurs in multiple apps, we would suggest starting up the system in what is called safe mode. Safe mode only loads what is needed to run the computer. This can help isolate what is causing issues.

To start in safe mode, follow these steps:

1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window.

More information is available here: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

The computer will take longer to start in safe mode, and the screen may have some distorted video as it starts up. This is normal. Once you are logged in, use the system and test to see if the issue continues.

If everything seems to work as expected, go ahead and restart the computer normally and test again. There are steps outlined on what to do if the issue does or does not continue in safe mode.

Starting in safe mode also forces the computer to run some disk checks similar to First Aid. This can actually resolve some issues.

Have a good day.

Thanks srbwanderer. You are absolutely right on the process to follow. I have changed headset and the problem (and Adobe Connect pop ups) have continued. I changed to an old PC desktop and the problem did not occur. Hence , likely to be the iMac. I suspect the USB ports (as even with a wireless headset there is an adapter in one of the ports). Not a common problem I suspect but can't think what else.
