My AirTag won't connect to my iPhone. Both are brand new. I've tried waiting and reconnecting. Nada. I've tried replacing the AirTag battery. Nope. I've tried resetting the AirTag. No luck. Any further suggestions?

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having with your new AirTag. Here are a few additional steps you can take:

1. Check Compatibility: Ensure your iPhone is running iOS 14.5 or later, as this is required for AirTag use.

2. Update Your Device: Make sure that your iPhone is up to date. To check this, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

3. Check Your Apple ID Settings: Make sure that you’re signed in to iCloud with your Apple ID. Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud to check this.

4. Enable Bluetooth & Location Services: AirTags require both Bluetooth and Location Services to work properly. Ensure these are turned on. You can find these settings in Settings > Privacy > Location Services and Settings > Bluetooth.

5. Close and Reopen the Find My app: Sometimes apps can freeze or not function as expected. Try closing the app entirely (by swiping it away in the app switcher) and reopening it.

6. Restart Your iPhone: Restarting your iPhone can often solve temporary issues.

7. Keep Your Devices Close: Keep your iPhone and AirTag close to each other during the setup process.

8. Reset Your AirTag again: If none of these work, try resetting your AirTag again. Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, and then reinsert it. You should hear a sound indicating that your AirTag has been reset.

If after trying these steps you’re still unable to connect your AirTag to your iPhone, it might be best to contact Apple Support or take both devices to an Apple Store for further assistance.

Thanks for the tips. I ended up going through phone support and finally was able to connect. I don't know what did the trick. I had done most of what you suggest before (specifically 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8), and I did most of it again with the support tech. For some reason, though, it worked with him. One thing that was different that I did with the tech was to restart my phone's wifi connection. I thought I had done that before, but I had not in fact actually logged into my home network. Was that the magic? No idea.
