You will want a spare iPhone and a spare Apple ID and spare data, as the starting point.

Do not run a beta with any device you need to work, or with local data you need to be available, or with any iCloud data you need available and unconverted and uncorrupted.

You will then need to enroll in the Apple developer program, either free or paid tier.

Details: Before You Enroll - Apple Developer Program

Beta can be unstable, and can corrupt local data, and can alter and can corrupt iCloud data.

There is no downgrade without restoring a pre-beta backup.

If you want to run iOS 18 without enrolling in the developer program, the wider beta starts in July.

Do you have a spare iPhone or iPad or Mac that you don’t need to work reliably, with contents you can reset without restore, and with an Apple ID where you don’t need the user and app data stored in iCloud to be available and uncorrupted?

If so, then the beta might be for you.

If not, I would strongly discourage loading any beta. Wait for the general release later this year.

If you are a member of the Apple Developer Program, and have a spare iPhone/iPad/Mac, contact Apple Developer Support.

If you are not a member of the Apple Developer Program, then the developer betas are not available to you, and you will want to contact whichever part of Apple provided you with access to the beta for assistance.
