Macbook Pro Bluetooth Randomly Dropping and Reconnecting
Macbook Pro (2014)
macOS 11.7.7
OK, this is obviously a very common and much discussed (maddening) problem. In may case, it affects Magic Keyboard and Trackpad, but also BT speakers. As far as I can tell I have tried everything recommended and multiple times ... , to summarize for everyone to start the journey:
- update mac fully
- restart mac
- restart BT devices
- press option + shift + click BT in menu bar, then
- Remove all devices
- Factory reset all devices
- Reset BT module + restart mac
- reset SMC
- reset NVRAM
- install ToothFairy (I know, desperate!)
- turn off "Allow Handoff" under Preferences/General
- turn off "Prevent Computer from Sleeping Automatically ..." under Preferences/Battery/Power Adapter
Nothing works even remotely. If anything, it got worse and BT keeps cutting out constantly and frequently, always reconnecting but with a few seconds of dead devices in-between.
To put this to rest once and for all, could someone confirm that this is a (quite common) defective hardware issue with no fix? Or is there actually some software / setting fix for this issue???
Please help, my sanity is at risk and (I suspect for many others as well)
Thank you!
