Transcend Jetdrive stopped working properly

Transcent Jetdrive SDcards have long been a very convenient way to add additional lower speed storage to MBP.

Since Ventura 13.4, it is no longer detected / automounted at boot and therefore not useable.

The only way to be able to use it is Unplugging it and putting it back on. With the physical format of the card, this is really really cumbersome and for some, just impossible without a tool.

As this has been introduced with a software upgrade, I believe it can be a bug. Has a bug report been filed for this and if not, how can we file one?

Thanks

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 13.4

Within the Ventura "Security & Privacy" System Settings, look for an option "Allow Accessories to connect" and set it to "Automatically when unlocked". If this setting is already configured this way or to always allow, then toggle it to another setting, save it by clicking in another tab of System Settings, then put this setting to "Automatically when unlocked", or if this does not resolve it, then set to "Always". I saw another user post that for some reason a macOS broke this setting for them or reset it...I believe the default setting is "Ask Everytime".

I have seen some people mention this issue with the built-in SD card slot in the Apple Silicon Macs. I believe it is not specific to any brand or model of SD card, although I have seen a lot of posts in the past year regarding Ventura and Transcend Jet Drives (not sure if SD cards, SSDs, or USB sticks). I believe a few people mentioned using a third party SD Card reader worked for them when the built-in SD reader was not (same issue requiring physically removing & reinserting the SD card).

FYI, I will never expect anything to be fixed soon if at all. Unfortunately Apple never tells anyone whether they are aware of an issue much less whether it is being fixed. "Soon" is very relative. It can easily take a vendor several months to fix a bug once they actually start to focus on it. Hopefully enough people submit product feedback so that someone at Apple takes notice and encourages the bug to be fixed.

That was my first search result. But this is something new that Jetdrive owners have just been experiencing since 13.4. It is not a wake up from sleep but normal bootups from power off state. What used to be present 100% of the times, not has become 0% availability after a cold boot.

Just for documenting the behavior, I have just put the laptop to sleep and the Jetdrive returns in the same state as it was.

Sadly doesn't work as of 08292023. Currently running 13.5.1 and I have tried everything that has currently been posted on the net on work arounds. This is very annoying and outright dumb. Apple needs to send an update immediately to fix this. I have lost GBs worth of work. Sure backups are ideal but shouldn't have to rely on them nor should they be relied on. Very frustrating.
