Indent on the right side of text at the bottom of every page.

I get an indent on the right side of the last line of text of every page of a book project. I think it may have something to do with the titles at the head of each following page. If I eliminate those temporarily the indent goes away. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Hi Marlow,

Yes, I was wondering why the paragraph mark after "from"!

How are you entering the heading?

If you place it in a page header, it will be isolated from the body text which can then flow freely to the next page.

I had to cheat by inserting returns and spaces to force "from" to the end of a line.

If you don't want to use page headers, you could place headings in text boxes:

But using text boxes will introduce other requirements (stay on Page, Text Wrap) that will bring new headaches.

Ian.

Edit: I forgot to justify left and right (silly me, the whole point of this discussion!). Here is a new screen shot with "From" where you want it.

Hi MarsRadcon,

More information may lead to a solution!

What was the source of your book project?

A Pages template? Which template?

A Word template?

What are the titles at the head of each following page?

A screen shot will help us to see what you see. Before you take the screen shot, Menu > View > Show Invisibles may give a clue to what is happening.

Hi Yellowbox (Ian).

I appreciate you getting back. What I do is open a blank template in Pages and begin typing and filling in the pages with text and graphics. I've created five 100 to 300 page books using this method over the past ten years. The problem I described, the strange indent which occurs at the bottom right of most pages (not all of them) occurred with the first book. Not being able to solve it I learned to live with it. Still, it's distracting. I don't use any of the features Pages offers to automatically number the pages or autofill headings or any of that. I'll attach a couple of screenshots, one showing a typical indent at the bottom of a page -- right after "from" -- and the title at the heading of the following page. And another screen shot showing the invisibles. I'm sure the problem lies in something I'm not doing with respect to these invisibles. Anyway, I appreciate you taking a look at the problem.

Regards,

Marlow

Hi, Ian.

Really appreciate you taking the time to get back. Your analyses makes sense. Pages thinks that it's the end of the paragraph probably because of the heading on the next page. Of course, "then" isn't the end of the paragraph, it's not even the end of the sentence. Is there any way to correct this? Some way of encapsulating the heading on the next page so that in this instance (and all other instances) Pages doesn't see "then" as the end of a paragraph?

Any help is appreciated.

Regards,

M.
