kernel_task eating all CPU when on external monitors

When I have 2 external monitors attached (doesn't matter which type) after a couple of seconds the process kernel_task kicks in and slows down the macbook so that it is unworkable.

Already tried the known SMC resets and all things found in history here.

Is there a decent solution to solve this crap? on a almost 3500$ laptop I would suspect it to be more reliable.

Graphics card in the laptop is a AMD Radeon Pro 5500M

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.4

Are any anti-virus software or so-called "cleaning" apps running in the background? Private (client-side) VPNs? Banking security software (Trusteer/Rapport)?

We can play a protracted game of "20 Questions" with you for days to look for potential software or hardware issues, but we can usually spot problems if any in one post of a system config snapshot. Fortunately there is a safe, secure way to do that.

We can quickly and within the text-based confines of these forums help you determine what issues are at play if you use EtreCheck Pro, available here:

https://etrecheck.com/index

The free version will do nicely for this purpose, although the app is worthy of our financial support.

We can see hard data about drive performance, software interferences, and RAM usage. Etrecheck is the development of a long-serving and trusted contributor here expressly for displaying information in these forums that help us help you. It will not reveal any personal or secure information.

Run it, select “Report" from the left-hand pane (scroll down to the bottom of that pane to find):

When its report displays, click the "Share Report" icon from EtreCheck’s toolbar and then "Copy report” from the resulting dropdown.

⚠️ Please DO NOT highlight the text in the report before using Etrecheck’s “Copy report” command—that will garble the formatting and make the report slower and harder to evaluate.

NOTE: Changes in late 2018 to the forum software require you use the “Additional Text" icon (see example below) to embed long text reports into a post:

Paste the report into the resulting “Additional Text” window:

The senior volunteers here have read thousands of these and can quickly pick up important factors that a new EtreCheck user may not notice. That why the developer designed it to be posted here in a sanitized, safe format.
