I own both a MacBook Pro with M1 chip (2021) and a 16 inch screen and an iPad Pro 12.9 with Magic Keyboard. I cannot currently afford to keep both, it would be sad to lose either, but I have to sell one to raise much needed cash. I think I know which one will have to go, but any comments would be welcome. Personally I could not risk being restricted to the app store for apps, so would definitely keep the laptop over the tablet.
Do you have a separate computer for your job (supplied by an employer)? If yes, then you might be able to "survive" with the iPad & Magic keyboard. (And use your work computer for tasks your iPad can't perform.)
If the MacBook Pro is your only full-on computer, then I'd keep that and say goodbye to the iPad.
I use Microsoft Word a lot and I wasn't able to install it on my iPad. (I have an iMac and an iPad.) For that reason alone, given a choice between the two, I'd keep my iMac.

That seems odd, I've had Word (and the other office apps) on my iPad for years now,
Thank you! I bought the "Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019" (including Word) from Office Depot, which I was unable to download on my iPad.
At the time that I wanted to install Word onto my iPad, there wasn't the free Word download in the Apple app store.

I would never choose a pad over and actual computer.
You can get MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint from the App Store. No cost when I got mine several years ago.
