Mail deletion acting up.

Several hours after I deleted the Plists, the computer started acting up. Displays on the screen saver would start hanging up while changing as would software when opening and closing. Commands were slow to complete. Finally just reloaded Mac OS as trying to recover from backup kept giving a "Need Migration Assistant" warning.

Everything works normally now with mail still sending read messages to Favorites.

Okay, I troubleshot all devices and found that the problem is with the mail software on my Mac and within the primary user interface. Mail works fine in the secondary user interface. Also, I have never used the "Favorites" option but brought it in play and found that all messages once read are transferred to the "Favorites" mailboxes. That includes messages my primary account "Inbox" and "Junk". They are not being deleted like I first described.

Another puzzler about Monterey's Mail is their creation of "On My Mac" mailboxes that I have not been able to rid myself of.

Anyway, I could not find anything in Mail Preferences that controls routing to or deleting "Favorites" so I am now using it instead of my Primary account. It works, but not like it should be.

I just want to add that I went to my secondary user account (created to troubleshoot this problem in January) and found my inbox contained the messages that I had read on my iPad. So that narrows the problem to my primary user account and not to the Monterey OS.

I checked and the inbox is not linked to trash as far as I can tell. However, my Accounts screen looks nothing like that displayed on your link. Also I have discovered that your message got deleted as soon as I left my inbox and returned, but your message was still on my iPAd. Normal deletions delete on all machines. I checked everywhere I could in Preferences but found nothing untoward. Any other suggestions woul be appreciated.

No. I just have a basic mail setup with one account and then the cloud account that seems to be mandatory. I have removed mail from being accessed by the cloud.

I just want to say thanks for your interest and suggestions so far. Since I know where the messages are now going, I can live with the current glitches, but I have to admit I would like to know what has caused them and how to correct the problem. In January it turned out the problem was caused by an app called Dr. Antivirus, I think, that was in the "Sys. Preferences-Users and Groups-Login" area. I removed it from the login section and then finally just got rid of it. I have an app, Cleaner One Pro, that is from the same developer and have been thinking of getting a new cleaner app and removing this one. Just haven't got around to it yet.

I looked at Pastebin but wasn't quite clear how I got from there to you so I put it above using the additional text option. If you need it on Pastebin, I will join it and figure out how to get the report published.

I have now removed the identified malware, the cleaner app, and all the files mentioned as unsigned. Restarted the computer and messages in inbox still get moved to Favorites after exiting the inbox. Oh, well.

O.K. I went into the Library's Launch Agents folder and deleted the Plists you indicated. Then shutdown and restarted. No change in the way Mail acts. I have gone ahead and just created the same mailboxes in Favorites as I had in my primary account and am working from the Favorites folder.
