Voice Memos not recording or playing

Hi,

I was recording a voice memo on my phone. There was enough storage, and I had iCloud storage turned on as well, just for context. Well, I had recorded a two hour memo, and I had stopped it. When I went to go back and check on it through the app, it had shortened down to 29 minutes, and I can’t play beyond 4 seconds without it stopping/pausing. Every time I press play, it stops again. I’m worried because I need the entire voice memo, but it only says it saved 29 minutes of it. Also, the last time I backed up my phone was a month ago, so I don’t think iCloud backup will help?

2. Check if Voice Memos are syncing with iCloud: Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud and check if Voice Memos is turned on. If it is, check your Voice Memos app on another device signed in with the same Apple ID to see if the full voice memo might be available there.

3. Inspect the app’s behavior with other memos: Try recording a new voice memo and see if it also has playback issues. This could help you understand whether the problem is with the specific memo or the app itself.

4. Try using a different app: If possible, try to play the voice memo with a different app. You can share the voice memo to another app like Music or an email and see if it plays correctly there.


If none of these steps work, it might be a more serious software issue, or it’s possible the recording didn’t save correctly initially. Unfortunately, if the data isn’t in your most recent iCloud backup or wasn’t synced to iCloud, retrieving the full voice memo might be difficult.
