Hello qtaisu,

We see the gradient you talking about and we'd like to provide you with some information. Apple Doesn't mention this gradient in any of its resources, but it appears to be a built-in feature for accessibility. When we test this on our device here's what we found:

  • When we set a white background there appeared to be a very faint gradient toward the top of the screen.
  • When we changed the clock font and color, the gradient became more apparent the lights the color and thinner the font got.

We assume the gradient would help make lighter colors and thinner fonts more visible on backgrounds with similar colors. Apple is very conscience of accessibility in its UI (user interface), so this makes sense.
