AirPods and Apple Watch Ultra reliable connection?

I’m considering purchase of an Ultra watch. An attractive feature would be the ability to use just AirPods and the Ultra watch to make calls and listen to music (so I do not have to walk around holding my watch up to my face to talk to someone). From the community I’m learning that the connection to the watch is dependent on the iPhone and sometimes the iPhone will steal back the connection to the AirPods e.g. following a pause of music on the watch to take a call. Has this been fixed?

Apple Watch is designed to work seamlessly with AirPods, allowing you to make calls and listen to music without the need to hold the watch up to your face. When your AirPods are connected to your Apple Watch, you can make and receive calls directly from the watch, as well as listen to music stored on the watch or streamed from Apple Music.

Regarding the connection between the Apple Watch, iPhone, and AirPods, there have been improvements in the software and firmware updates to enhance the overall experience. However, occasional issues or interruptions may still occur, such as the iPhone taking over the connection after a pause in music playback on the watch.

To mitigate such issues, make sure you have the latest software updates installed on both your Apple Watch and iPhone. Additionally, you can try unpairing and re-pairing your AirPods with your Apple Watch to establish a fresh connection. This can sometimes help resolve any connectivity glitches.

If you have specific concerns or questions about a particular Apple Watch model, I recommend checking the official Apple website, product documentation, or reaching out to Apple Support.
