Heating issue IPad 9th gen

Hit there. It’s been only a day since I bought my 9th gen IPad. But on the very day of purchase , I got disappointed by its heating issue. I was just trying it’s apps, and surfing the web on safari…no games, no video editing, multitasking or anything…within 1st hour of using this iPad, I noticed that it started heating on the right lower edge. Then after some time, the upper half of right edge heated too much that I had to stop using it for some time. I am surprised by the way this iPad has behaved , especially when it has got popularity because of its performance. I have purchased it from authorized retailer of Apple, but I am not sure whether they will return it or not because of this issue. Please suggest something for it.
