Travel Time in Shared Calendar Events

This is a follow-up question to a question from earlier this year. I will better define the use case. My wife and I share a calendar of shared events where we are traveling together. Setting the travel time independently of each other leads to miscommunication. How can we set the travel time for the shared event and not the person's device?

Hey there and welcome to Apple Support Communities degriff,

We can certainly understand your concern and can help provide some insight.

We recommend checking out these steps for more information o how to share your Calendar events.

" Share a calendar privately

When you share a calendar privately, your invitees must have an Apple ID and use iCloud in order to use the calendar.

Only the calendar’s owner can share a private calendar.

  1. In Calendar on iCloud.com, click Share Calendar to the right of the calendar’s name in the sidebar, then select Private Calendar.
  2. Tip: The share icon is faint if the calendar isn’t shared. When you move the pointer over the icon, it darkens.
  3. Type the invitee’s email address in the Add Person field, then press Return or Enter.
  4. Click the invitee’s name, then choose access privileges:
    • View & Edit: Allows the invitee to create, edit, and delete events, and track invitation responses.
    • View Only: Allows the invitee to view, but not edit, the calendar.

5. For each person you want to share the calendar with, repeat steps 2 and 3.

6. When you’ve invited everyone and set their privileges, click OK.

Invitation emails are sent from your iCloud email address to the participants you specified.

Share a calendar publicly

When you share a calendar publicly, your invitees automatically receive an email that includes the calendar URL. An invitee doesn’t need to be an iCloud user to accept an invitation to view a shared public calendar.

Only the calendar’s owner can share and make changes to a public calendar.

  1. In Calendar on iCloud.com, click Share Calendar to the right of the calendar’s name in the sidebar, then select Public Calendar.

Tip: The share icon is faint if the calendar isn’t shared. When you move the pointer over the icon, it darkens.

2. To invite people to view the calendar, click Email Link.

3. Type one or more email addresses in the To field, then click Send.

See who you’re sharing a calendar with

When you share a calendar, you can see if the people you invited have accepted or declined the invitation, or have yet to respond. Everyone who is a participant in the calendar can track responses.

  1. In Calendar on iCloud.com, click Calendar Sharing Info to the right of the calendar’s name in the sidebar.
  2. In the Calendar Sharing window, view the icon next to the name of each invitee:

Description

A green checkmark.

The invitee has joined as a participant.

A red x.

The invitee declined the invitation.

The invitee hasn’t responded yet to the invitation. "
