I have to switch phones and want a total back up to restore everything completely to the new phone. I tried to do this using encrypted methods on my laptop but I don't have enough space. How can I get my iCloud backup to backup even encrypted data so that I don't have to recreate everything on the new phone?

I think I asked my question in a weird way. What I'm really wondering is this: when you have to replace your phone and you restore your back up onto a new phone, it misses a lot of information and takes a great deal of time to set up all the account passwords and other automated processes. I was hoping there was a version of a back up that would save all that and make the transition much more efficient. It seems to me the default back up is minimal. Is there any way to maximize the back up?
I don't know the answer for why Apple decided what they decided as far as iCloud.
Backups to a Mac are "local"...... the Internet is not involved. Backups to iCloud depend on a good Wi-Fi Internet connection....the more data to back up, the greater the chances of an error or corrupted backup. But, that's just a guess.
One of the reasons that I back up the iPhones here to a Mac is that everything on the iPhone is backed up.
Yes, I saw that also but my laptop evidently didn’t have room for that. Why can’t iCloud accommodate that kind of back up? Or is there a way to get it to do so?
