Brand new phone and charger won’t seat

I just got the iPhone 7 new. And a new lightning cable with it. And the cable won’t seat well in the iPhone. I’ve tried another cable be sme problem. It makes charging very precarious. So is it just a defect or maybe something I can try to fix it. Don’t think the iPhone 7’s are still under warranty unfortunately for me. Anyways thanks for reading.

They stopped selling the iPhone 7 in Sept 2019, so yours is at least 3 1/2 years old, not new. No, it's not under warranty.

Take a toothpick or unused toothbrush and gently clean out the charging port. Defect, no, most likely 3 1/2 years of accumulated dust and gunk buildup in the port.
