Hide My Email not Working

Hi,

I've recently tried enjoying Hide My Email but it doesn't seem to work. I've read lots of people's questions and comments about the same issue, most of whom are iCloud+ users. The thing is, I am not an iCloud+ subscriber and I was given the chance to hide my e-mail and I did, which I do regret now. How am I going to see emails forwarded to my mailbox? Will I ever be able to or shall I just forget it and get on with it? Since I'm not a paid subscriber, why was I treated like one in the first place?

Thanks,

Maho

Hi Yahmose,

As you don't have iCloud+ it sounds like you may have enabled the feature with Sign in with Apple. You can view more information about that here: What is Hide My Email? - Apple Support

Specifically the section "How Hide My Email works."

You can also check your settings with the steps below found here: Manage the apps that you use with Sign in with Apple - Apple Support

"On your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap your name.
  2. Tap Password & Security.
  3. Tap Apps Using Apple ID."

Hope the information helps.

Cheers.

Hello Yahmose,

To see emails send to a hidden email address, you would just go into the Mail application > Inbox folder and open the emails the same way as an email that was sent directly to your actual email address. If you need to change the email address you have hidden addresses set to forward to, you can do that in Settings > your name at the top > iCloud > Hide My Email > Forward To section at the bottom of the page.

Create and manage Hide My Email addresses in Settings on iPhone

Use Hide My Email in Mail on iPhone

If you're not currently an iCloud+ subscriber, you may have been at the time you set up Hide My Email. The Hide My Email option will only in Settings > your name at the top > iCloud, when you're using iCloud+ (a paid storage plan). If you're just using the standard 5 GB storage plan, then the Hide My Email service is unavailable.

If you're supposed to be on the standard 5 GB storage plan but you have an option for the Hide My Email service, then you may want to check on your storage to confirm that you are actually on the 5 GB storage plan. Settings > name at the top > iCloud > Manage Account Storage.

Cheers!
