How is this article helpful to the person who owns the iPhone not the AirPods that were connected to the phone? There are no clear instructions of how to remove a device that has connected to your phone without consent.

The article covers how you would be notified when one of these devices are near you. You don't remove it to your phone because it is not added to your phone. It still belongs to its owner. That owner is relying on the Find My Network feature to be able locate it in the Find My app.

If you find this device, you have the option to try to disable it. For example, if it's an AirTag, you can remove its batter. In that case, the owner will no longer be able to track it.

Thanks, I’m on travel and received a notification that an unknown device was detected moving with me. The device appears on the Find My app not the Apple settings as you mentioned. It also asked if I would allow tracking with map showing my location and where the device travelled along with me. This is NOT my device as someone else suggested in this post. The notice raised a safety concern and I was simply trying to remove the information pertaining to the device from my phone completely. The instructions were not clear on how to do that as I mentioned.
