This OSXDaily article says that it is possible to run a beta version of VirtualBox on an Apple Silicon Mac. I'm not sure how many rough edges the beta version might have.

The user manual (Chapter 2, "First Steps") says (emphasis mine):

"An installer package is available for macOS/Arm64, for systems using an Apple silicon CPU. With this package, you can run some guest operating systems for Intel x86/x64 CPUs in an emulation.

The macOS/Arm64 installer package is available as a Developer Preview release. This package represents a work in progress and the performance is very modest."

I stopped using VB years ago in favor of VMWare Fusion, but if it were me I'd try it and see. If it won't install, it won't install. If it does then you can test it.

You can always uninstall any 3rd party app you don't want to keep.

You mighty want to check the VB site first for M1 compatibility. Like I said, I dropped using it so I'm not up to speed.
