Are there any free alternatives to VirtualBox for running virtual machines on MacBook Pro (M3)?

I can't get my MacBook Pro (M3) to run virtual machines such as Kali Linux to install on VirtualBox and run on my Mac. I know for a fact that there is no problem with the M1 and M2 chips, but the new MacBooks seem like they are not able to run virtual machines on VirtualBox, which is so sad. I was wondering if there are other free ways that I can run virtual machines (VMs) on my MacBook?

Yes. UTM allows you to both emulate (so you can use an x86 image) and virtualises (you need an ARM image, there is a guide on their docs).
