No matter what I do, USB Device Not Recognized appears when I attach my Ipod Touch

No matter what I do, my ipod touch is always USB Device Not Recognized The last USB device connected to this computer malfunctioned... keeps appearing. I have tried everything in the book.

Although you say that you've tried everything, let's politely assume (for the sake of this discussion) that you haven't.


  1. Use a different USB port on your computer. I suggest this because if a USB device failed while connected via a USB port, the port itself may have become electrically damaged (in other words, you will not see any physical damage) but the port is unusable
  2. If you have another USB device, try connecting it to the same USB port on your computer in order to check that the port works (at least for that device). If the port will not recognise the second device either, it suggests that the port may be damaged (as mentioned above). Even if it does work, the port may not be able to cope with the iPod if it is damaged
