iPod Touch 4th Gen Not Connecting to Windows Laptop

I'm having a really strange issue. I have an iPod Touch 4th Gen (iOS 6.1.6) and it has been connecting perfectly with the iTunes on my Windows 11 laptop until just a few days ago.

Now, when I plug in my iPod into the laptop USB port, it says 'Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)' and doesn't recognize the device. I thought it was an issue with my charger, so I bought a new one and I get the same message. Now, even when I plug just my USB into my laptop (no iPod connected), this error message occurs. I've tried connecting to another Windows laptop and get the same exact message.

I believe this is an issue with my iPod, but I am devastated because it had been functioning perfectly with my Windows laptop until just recently.

I've tried uninstalling my drivers, my device, restarting both, but absolutely nothing works.

Please help or offer any advice!

Update: I bought a new USB cord and reinstalled iTunes and was able to connect my iPod to my Windows laptop.

I think it was the USB cord that was the issue-- I guess I got a faulty one from Amazon. Thank you bobjbkln for the support.
