ipod nano 7th gen not connected with i tunes on windows 10

I have just bought a new lap top with window 10 and am trying to connect my i pod nano to i tunes but am getting a message saying 'The software required for communicating with ipods is not installed, would you like to install it now ?' When I select download and in stall, I get the message 'i tunes was unable to install ipod support software. An unknown error occurred (0x80080017)' Can anyone help with this? It work fine on my old lap top so its not a problem with the ipod.
