ipod nano cannot be used becuase it is not supported on version of windows

I have just bought a new laptop and when I plug my 6th gen nano in it says "ipod nano cannot be used becuase it is not supported on version of windows" - I have looked on the system and it has the most up to date driver. The itunes is installed through windows as recommended

Try iOS device not showing in iTunes for Windows - Apple Community. You may need to use a version of iTunes downloaded from apple.com rather than installed via the Microsoft Store. Another possibility is that you are using Windows in S mode, which may not be compatible with older software and drivers.
