I am trying to create a new project. As usual I select the pictures and then put them in the timeline in the botton of the screen. But most of them appear tiny, very very small. Others normal. Is the first time I have an issue like this. Pictures in the left column are normal, just when putted in the bottom one became very small. Any ideas?

You might want to call Apple Support and discuss this with the techs there. Click on the Support item above this forum's screen and navigate to a place where you can enter your phone number.
The reason I mention that is because one poster on this forum has reported that he/she talked to Apple support about black/blurry photos when importing into the timeline after updating to Ventura, and was told that there was some incompatibility with Ventura and latest iMovie update. So you could try importing the black clips to your desktop first, and then dragging them into iMovie from there. See if that cures the problem.

What do you see in the preview screen when you put the playhead on one of the black clips in the timeline?
What do the black clips look like when viewed in the media browser pane (to the left of the preview screen)?

I agree. It appears that it is a bug that Apple will need to address. Sometimes updates and upgrades can cause incompatibilities of this nature. Usually Apple fixes them fairly quickly. Thanks for confirming that the workaround works. It might help others who have this issue.

The black frame in the timeline have a little dote in the middle, that is the picture I can see in normal size at the left side.fram
Can you send a screen shot of what you are seeing? Are you talking about the clips as they appear in the timeline or as they appear in the preview screen?

In the left panel I can see the picture like it is, but in the left big screen I see the picture like in the timeline, black and micro...
If I do like this it works, but is a nonsense! Apple shout fix this incompatibility...
For the moment I'll adopt this solution.
