I use google maps for navigation in my car. Recently it won't give verbal directions so I have to follow on the map. I have tried in in my house and once I click on start I immediately get verbal directions but this doesn't happen when I'm in the car. I've checked that maps doesn't somehow get muted or that the sound is on high. - Anyone got any ideas to fix this?

thanks for the link - I am aware that google maps is a google product, but I did also think it was worth trying the iphone as a problem at the same time.
