new track anomoly: how do I make logic provide a new clean track?

When I ask for as new audio track, I get an old one, with a load of plugins and sends... How do I change the pref to an actual fresh clean track?

Cheers

OK, so make a new Audio Track and configure it as you want them all to look when you create new ones.

Now, right-click the track header, select Store As User Defaults. That's all I can come up with. That's very odd behavior.

You may need to quite Logic, go to the Applications folder, move it to the trash (don't empty the Trash just yet), then go to the App Store and reinstall it. If this doesn't help, or does something more messed up, Swap out the copy in the Trash with the new copy in your Applications folder.

But anyway, no, this shouldn't be happening. It's like you're automatically loading up some custom default, and I'm not aware of Logic being able to assign an Audio Track default setup like that.

Hi BenB

Many thanks for getting back and for taking the time to look at this!

I've done your suggestion of creating a new audio track, stripping it down, and then doing 'store as user defaults' in the track header, and it has totally solved the issue√

I won't re-install, as I'm still running Catalina.

I've no idea how a fully loaded, existing, or recently deleted track configuration became a default like that!

Once again, much appreciated!

Thanks for that Ben, yes that's what it sounds like, however, here's the scenario:

dragging audio tracks in and hitting 'create new tracks', wherein it instigates tracks that have been previously deleted, or are otherwise already loaded with plugins and sends etc, as in a duplicate. In this instance it ought to simply create new tracks but doesn't, thus I have to first create the tracks before dragging the files onto them. (not a big deal ,but I'm curious as to the anomaly).

OK, that's not supposed to happen at all. I'll have to play around with Logic and see what I can find. I also notice the new track has a name, like you've assigned a customized default new track setup. But AFAIK you can't do that in Logic. I'm going to fool around with Logic now and see what I can find. There's nothing about customizing new track defaults in the user manual. I'll post again very soon.

Aha... so in fact auto management needs to be checked in order to prevent Logic from simply giving you an old track that you deleted...?

Interesting that that's even an option when selecting a new track, and not an additional 'used track' option perhaps...

I've tried it and it appears to work though.

I appreciate your time and help!

All the best
