Can’t add kids to family share

I deleted several kids account on family share because they were old apple ids and my kids had set up new ones on their devices. When I went to add their correct ones on family share the button is not active for me to add them. How do I fix this? I waited a week thinking it would clear up.

After realizing this was not the way go about what I initially intended, I deleted both child accounts through Apple's data and privacy page. After receiving confirming emails both apple ID's were deleted (a week and a half ago). This brought my total family members back down to four, but I still cannot add a new family member using the same process. The "add family member" button is "grayed" out. Why is this happening? Is there a longer waiting period? And when/how can I add new family members to family sharing? Thanks for the help.

Need to add my third child to Family Sharing but it won’t let me remove the old accounts I have two of my children on my family sharing. Unable to add new member to Family Sharing after deleting duplicate account I have my wife and three older kids set up with family sharing. A couple of years ago, one child had a second account created that was never used, but it was added to the family - thereby filling all six roles in the family sharing option. Now my youngest has a device that I want to add into the family. I have successfully deleted the duplicate account and I only see five individuals (including myself) in family sharing. I have tried daily to add my youngest but the option to add a new account is greyed out, even though it’s been a couple of weeks. A “child” (generally < 13 years old) can’t setup an AppleID.

A child’s AppleID can only be created by a Family Organizer.

After it’s created - and is part of the creating organizer’s family - it can only be moved “between families” by the action of BOTH “loosing” and “gaining” Family Organizers.
