I am relatively new to iPhone. What are some of the more difficult task to perform and what are the easiest tasks? What will best familiarize myself with iPhone 11?

How can I best familiarize myself to the various tasks my iPhone 11 can perform?

iPhone 11, iOS 16

Welcome to Apple’s ecosystem.

There is a bit of an initial “learning curve” with … after which it’s a continuous, long-term leaning process.

I’ll provide my own “pet” recommendation.

Others will certainly have theirs:

Summary: Prepare NOW (i.e. practice) for when your iPhone is misplaced or stolen.

This includes logging in to your AppleID w/o your phone.

Tasks to be completed:

  • Using any computer, browse to https://icloud.com/find and login entirely from memory
  • Using the website, “Locate” your phone, mark it as lost, adding a recovery message to it’s screen
  • With your phone, read the message you placed on the screen, then “reactivate it” (by entering it’s passcode)
  • Now … turn “off” your phone
  • Login to https://icloud.com/ - again from memory - AND by receiving the 2FA verification code via one of your “Trusted Numbers”

If you can do ALL of this, you’ll not “panic” when you misplace your phone ‘cause you KNOW WHAT TO DO.

If you briefly look at the title of many posts on this forum, there is a common theme of "I forgot my passcode". When that happens, the user must erase the phone and set it up again. That is a scary thing for most users, especially those who find out too late that they did not make a backup of the data on the phone, so they lose everything.

If anything that you do requires a passcode / password.......write that phrase down exactly and keep it in a safe place in your desk or other location.

Back up the iPhone regularly. ICloud allows you to back up automatically overnight each night.....a very nice option. Not backing up is somewhat like not fastening the seat belts in your car. You are OK until you actually need the seat belts, but by that time......it's too late.
