contact locked without screen time passcode

Why do I have to enter a screen time passcode to create or edit a contact when downtime is off until schedule? How can I turn this off without allowing access to contacts with downtime is on?

I’ve found the UI in the information screen from recent calls really dumb. It’s almost the same as the one found in contacts, but you can’t edit once you’ve added them to your contacts, and you can’t delete them, but you can block them. Why make the user go through contacts every time to make changes after the initial creation? Allowing edit from recent makes sense because you want to add new info. To the contact after getting off the phone with the person. It’s a small change/problem, but I’ve ran into it enough to be really annoyed by it.

Screen Time password issue for contact editing on iPhone I have a problem where my iPhone asks for the Screen Time password when I try to edit a contact. It seems to only affect some contacts. I checked, and editing is enabled in screen time settings. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

We'd be happy to get you headed in the right direction. If you have app limits turned on an you're using a screentime passcode this can happen. You can learn how to adjust app limits here: Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

It sounds like you make need to turn off or adjust the limit Contacts.
