battery icon is showing 1 instead of the lighting bolt. It also isn't charging no matter how I try

My Battery has been giving me charging problems, I woke up this morning and it was dead after being on the charger all night. When I plugged it into a new charger, I see no lighting bolt but rather a 1 on the battery icon in the upper right hand corner over my battery icon. Any thoughts on what this could be?
