You should be able to use an external USB card reader with just about any MacBook Pro.


Some MacBook Pros have USB-A ports. Others have USB-C ports. So you might need an adapter / adapter cable to plug a USB card reader with a USB-A port into a USB-C port (or vice versa).


Note that if you are using Raw files, Raw support may depend on the OS and/or application software version. Raw isn't a single format, but a name for a category of formats that vary even between cameras from the same camera manufacturer.

Reading Media with an Adapter:

With an adapter, I'd expect it to read, as long as it is compatible. View the original packaging, to see if it is comp able with Mac and the installed macOS. Just make sure the lock pick is not on when inserting the card.
