We'd be happy to help out. To clarify, when you say the trackpad isn't working, is it not responding to any touch or presses at all? Do you have a mouse you can test things out with? If so, does it work as you'd expect?
If not, or the issue persists with a mouse connected, restart your Mac. If that doesn't have any impact, try rebooting into safe mode by holding the Shift key after turning on your Mac and holding until you reach a login screen. If the behavior persists in safe mode, then it's likely that there's a hardware issue present causing this to occur, since safe mode only loads the bare minimum software required.
