"Required Managed Update"
This keeps coming up on my screen when I log in... (a) is it legit? and (b) even if I leave my iMac on sleep overnight it still comes up with that message the next day ... not sure what to do... any ideas?

This Mac has been set up by an IT organization; it is a managed or supervised Mac. Contact that IT organization.

Was your previous Mac managed by an IT organization, and that was then migrated here?
Have you installed a management profile?

So no profiles loaded, and the notifications persist? This (still) appears to be a managed Mac, then. As you’re unable to locate the profile or settings triggering this, this is either a bug in macOS, a local corruption, there’s a profile here you’re not finding. You’ll want to contact Apple Support and ask them for help.
iMovie does not typically have a profile associated, but Apple seemingly messed up with their iMovie 10.2.3 update several years back and added an iMovie_27_Sep management profile, and yes, that profile is unnecessary and can be deleted. See if that deletion clears this error, and let us know.

Is your Mac a managed Mac? If it was purchased used, it may well be. See the earlier part of this thread.
Okay, since you have gone through all the previous suggestions here, contact Apple Support, and ask them.
FYI -- the steps described at the end of this thread have resolved this issue for me and others:

Yes - I found the other thread(s) on this same subject. Deleted the software update plist file this morning and rebooted.
I did remove iMovie_27_Sep. I then restarted my Mac and the notification was back this morning. I checked the Profile page and there are none. I wish Apple would correct the problem and send out a update.
No IT organisation is/was involved in the setting up of my iMac (bought through John Lewis and everything was brought in from my old MacBook), and the usual updates are done automatically, as they occur, with my permission. But this "Managed Update" is a new one and does not appear on the update menu when I go in to to check what Updates are required. I'm stumped on this one and want the "notice" to go away! Or has 'someone' "taken over" my iMac???
I've checked my "profiles" and found an iMovie profile with a September date (no year) on it, so I clicked on it and deleted it (by clicking on the - key.) but not sure if that was a problem profile?? Should I call Apple Support to get them to check my system is running as it should?
Am getting the same issue that has been going on for many months, even after MacOS updates (currently running 13.4.1 (c) (22F770820d)):
I followed the clues you have explained above:

I too would like to stop this from happening over and over again... Please let me know if you get any results from contact with Apple support. I will try to delete the profile and see if that works.
I have never had my personal computers managed by anyone other than myself.
I will take a look at the link you have provided. Thank you.
Ah, many thanks for that info. I'll let you know if message still comes up again! Fingers crossed! Thank you!
Deleted the iMovie profile and rebooted. The notification reappeared immediately upon reboot.
