Hello kalolajean,

Does your computer recognize your iPhone when you connect it? If not, the steps outlined in this Apple Support article are catered to your specific issue.

  1. Look in the Finder or iTunes to see if it's connected.
  2. Update the software on all devices.
  3. Connect your iPhone directly to your computer. In other words, if you're using any type of USB hub, bypass the hub and connect directly.
  4. Trust your computer.
  5. Allow the accessories to connect.
  6. Restart your computer and iPhone. This is a very important step. It's possible your iPhone was ejected incorrectly the last time it was connected. If this is the case, you won't be able to reconnect until both devices are restarted.
  7. Try a different port, cable, and/or computer.

You'll find detailed instructions for each of these steps in the article.

If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone or iPad.
