If you can't locate your AirTag, here are a few steps you can take to try and find it:

  1. Make sure that your iPhone or other Apple device is nearby and connected to the internet. The Find My app relies on the Bluetooth connection between your device and the AirTag to help you locate it. Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on your device and that you are logged in to the Find My app. --> Find your keys, backpack, and more with AirTag - Apple Support
    1. Launch the Find My app on your iPhone or iPad. From the "Items" tab, you should see a list of all your registered AirTags and other devices associated with your Apple ID.
    2. Look for your AirTag in the list of devices on the Find My app. If the AirTag is nearby, you can tap on it to make it play a sound to help you locate it visually.
  2. If your iPhone model supports Precision Finding, you can tap the "Find" button next to the AirTag in the Find My app. This feature uses augmented reality (AR) and sound to guide you to the precise location of the AirTag.
  3. If you still can't locate the AirTag, you can put it in Lost Mode through the Find My app. This will enable notifications when someone else's iPhone detects your AirTag and provide a way for them to contact you. Lost Mode can also track the AirTag's movements and update its location on the Find My app. Mark an AirTag or other item as lost in Find My on iPhone
  4. If you believe your AirTag has been lost or stolen, you should report it to the local authorities. They can provide guidance and assistance in recovering the AirTag if necessary.

If you have tried these steps and still can't locate your AirTag, it's recommended to contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Store for further assistance. They can provide additional troubleshooting steps or help you with the recovery process.

I haven't lost my AirTag. I'm looking at it right now. And when I hit the "Find" button for it in FindMy , FindMy tells me "Searching for signal...Try moving to a different location." I took out the battery and put it back in, the AirTag beeped, and it updated the position from 3 weeks ago to now. How do I get the AirTag to respond to FindMy "Find" button and update its position more than once every 3 weeks?
