using icc profiles in photos on mac

Ordinarily, an image's color profile is assigned to it from the image creation source, whether screenshot, camera, or application. The only means for Apple's Photos application to modify this information is to engage an external image editor (e.g. Affinity Photo, Pixelmator, etc.).

In the Finder, one can single-click to select an image and press option+cmd+i to open an information panel on which the color space and color profile are shown. Usually, these are RGB and sRGB IEC61966-2.1 respectively.

I have a similar question as pbwizard2k, I accidentally found the ColorSync Utility and was wondering if I use that to upload icc requirements from my fine art printer, would it change the file from sRGB back to Display P3? or is that what would keep your photo "print ready"? I need to have sRGB, jpeg, high resolution, 300dpi and smaller files (15mb or less preferably) to have successful reproductions. I do not have an editing program and would love to get by without one. Clearly I'm a beginner, had no intention of becoming a photographer, let alone an editor ...until I lost the ability to professionally scan my paintings for reproduction. I do have tenacity and determination so that helps :-). thanks so much for your time and any words of wisdom. I'll get in touch with Apple Support as well to guide me as I'm not computer savvy either. Just asking as it sounds like you're a photographer with experience!
