IPad delemma

Hi, I'm getting this symbol appearing on my iPad, in text messages. How do I get rid or switch it off please? Thank you

You are clearly seeing Apple’s Continuity service at work - this being intended to allow you to start an activity on one device - and seamlessly continue on another. 


The illustrated Messages icon has an overlaid iPhone “badge” - this indicating that the Messages App is being used on your iPhone; tapping the icon will allow you to continue on your iPad from where you left-off on your iPhone.
