How do you set up AirPods to hear a conversation with no background noise?

Why do my AirPods Pro 2 switch to Conversation mode? When I listening to my iPad with noise cancellation on, when I talk or cough my AirPods Pro 2 switches to conversations in the room. Then switches back to iPad to the program I am listening to. Do I have the configuration problem or is this how they are supposed to work? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

AirPods microphone When my AirPods are connected the microphone is not in use. For example when I blow into my phones speaker and record it I can hear that it is the phones mic in use and not the AirPods. I can’t find a solution and I can’t speak to people through the AirPods

Can’t switch to AirPods when in a call from the call screen post iOS 17. Any suggestions? Before the iOS 17 release, when a call came in you could choose between speaker or AirPods (if you have them in) when answering. I don’t have the option for AirPods, just speaker, after the iOS 17 update. Totally could be user error on my part. Did I miss something? Any suggestions are welcome.
