TextEdit selection with CMD

Hi!

I often used a function (in TextEdit 1.17) that allows me to select different words in a text, and then apply different formatting options (like Bold for example)

For now, with the new version of TextEdit (1.18) it's impossible to do.

How can I turn on this function?

Or may be downgrade TextEdit?

Thanks!!!

Apple has removed non-contiguous text select from TextEdit. There is no fix for this change in TextEdit, nor may you replace an operating system installed version of TextEdit with an older version.

Consider the free Bean word processor that still supports the non-contiguous text selection capability. I just tested this with Bean 3.5.1 on Ventura 13.4.
