Target Display Mode

Dear, I have a MacbookPro 15" 2018 running on Ventura 13,4 and I want to use my iMac 11,3 (2010) High Sierra as a screen.

It previously worked perfectly with MacBookPro 15" from 2014 running on Monterey, I just needed to plug in the MiniDisplayPortCable directly into the MacBook and it worked. I didn't even needed to log in on my iMac.

Now with the MacbookPro 2018 it doesn't seem to work anymore. I am using a cable: MiniDisplayport to HDMI and I contact the HDMI cable through a universal USB-C hub.

I have tested the cable - iMac to other screen via MDP to HDMI and it works. I have tested the universal USB-C hub (HDMI to other screen) and it works also perfectly. So I don't think it is a cable issue.

I have tried the following as wel:

Reboot both machines, disconnect cable, reconnecting, cmd+F2 just gives a small sound coming from the iMac and does nothing.

I was really used to working on the 27" iMac, so I really am desperate to use it again.

Thanks for your advice!

Kind regards,

Jeroen

Your MacBook Pro has to be running Catalina or earlier as explained in the link above…

"The other Mac that you're connecting it to must have been introduced in 2019 or earlier and have macOS Catalina or earlier installed."
